Iniya Pongal Vazhthukkal !
15-01-2016

Dear Clients,

Pranams & Greetings to you !

I have immense pleasure in extending my Warmest Greetings for a Happy and Prosperous Pongal !

Every Festival has its own Significance and Charm as well! So Too is Pongal!

Pongal is the most popular and age old Festival of Tamilians and no wonder it is known as “Thamizhar Thirunal”. It falls on the First day of the auspicious month of “Thai” and commencement of Utharayana. The Celebration is more predominant in Rural areas than cities!

The Festival is celebrated normally for 4 days. The First day is Bogi when old things are destroyed, Homes are cleaned and decorated with Kolam & Thoranams.

The 2nd Day is “Pongal” when special Poojas are performed for Sun God. The list of Neivediyams (Offerings) include Fruits, Sugarcane, Inji, Manjal Kothu, Sakkarai Pongal, Ven Pongal, Annam, Vada etc, followed by Tasty lunch.

The 3rd Day is Maattu Pongal, when Cows and Bullocks are decorated and worshipped. The Day is also called as Kanu Pongal, wherein sisters put Kanu items in leaves, place them in Mottai Maadies & pray for the welfare of their Brothers.

On their part, Brothers also greet their beloved sisters with sumptuous gift in cash/kind reflecting their concern and affection for them !

The Fourth Day is Kaanum Pongal when people visit common places as picnic and enjoy various funs with children & relations.

Exchange of Greetings among Friends & Relatives is an important feature which goes a long way for strengthening the Relationship and cementing the misunderstanding if any.

In olden days, It was a thrill & suspense to get printed Greetings with pictures and words delivered by Postman. Now it is replaced by SMS, E-mail, Whatsapp etc.!

Above all Pongal is also an occasion for Expressing our Gratitude for the Farmers who toil & moil for providing us the food for our Survival!

I recall the old song “Kadavul Ennum Mudalali Kandedutha Thozhilali – Vivasayee!

Manju Virattu, Jalli Kattu, Rekla Race etc, used to add lot of cheers for the Festivals in rural areas which remains in suspense today. It is for the courts and people in Power to decide about its Future analyzing the pros & cons!

Finally the various Special Programme in TV including Pattimandrams are bound to entertain us a lot! Let us enjoy the Pongal in our own way and bring Happiness to others too! As per the sayings “Thai Piranthal Vazhi Pirakkum”, we wish and pray for early settlement of Marriages to all our clients!

With Kind Regards & Best Wishes,
