War against Corona (COVID-19)

AWARENESS:

Thanks to the Social Media including WhatsApp, all of us are now well conversant with Corona’s origin, impact and challenges as well!

We are also aware that no medicine is available so far and that social distancing, Self-Hygiene and developing better immunity by taking healthy foods are the only remedies.

PRESENT POSITION:

The disease which originated from China hardly 4 months back has now spread to almost all Countries in the World. The Impact is now very seriously felt in European Countries like Spain, Italy, Germany, France, UK etc. USA is the most affected. As of now (08.04.2020) more than 15 lacs have been affected in the world while the Death Toll is above 88000.

In Our Country also the situation is worsening day by day. Presently more than 6000 people have been affected so far, the death toll reaching more than 180. In Tamil Nadu alone more than 700 are affected, death toll being 8. It is unfortunate that the Islamic Conference held at Delhi has become the main contributor for the spread of the virus in Tamil Nadu and some of the other states as well.

PAST HISTORY:

Such major calamities have taken place in the past like outbreak of Cholera, Jaundice, Spanish Flu etc., like that corona also seems to be highly disastrous and proving to be worse than world wars!

PURANAS:

In Puranas we have seen how God used to manifest Himself into various Avatars for sacking the demons and saving the Devas & Human beings.

Some of them are Mahishasura Vadham by Sri Lalitha Parameswari, Bhadmasura Vadham by Lord Muruga, Narahasuravadham by Lord Krishna & Sathyabama, Hiranya Vadham by Narasimhamurthy and so on.

COMPARISON:

The present situation can also be compared with such happenings.

Undoubtedly our Honourable Prime Minister Modi ji is the Avatar here. His elegant warriors include Ministers, Doctors, Nurses, Medical Staff, Government Employees, Public Servants, Police Personnel and all those responsible for rendering essential services in one way or other.

The agony is while our great Avatars had enormous weapons with them. Our Doctors are fighting without medicines and at times without adequate PPE also thereby risking their lives to the core. Quite pathetic indeed!

That is why they repeatedly appeal to us or even beg to us to remain at home safely with cleanliness, avoiding social contacts totally. But it is unfortunate that some of our people are yet to abide by the warnings.

ADVICE OF LORD KRISHNA

In fact similar suggestion was extended to Pandavas by Lord Krishna Himself while they were about to face the all-powerful Narayana Asthra from Aswathama.

As per Lord Krishna’s advice Pandavas dropped their weapons, bowed down to the Astra with all reverence and thus escaped. The Almighty’s sound suggestion holds very apt for facing the Corona war also.

CORONA’S POWER:

Let us be aware that Corona is extremely powerful. It can multiply itself into countless folds in no time once reaching inside our body besides being highly contagious through contacts directly or indirectly. Hence we cannot take it easily like the blunders committed by some Countries like Italy.

NATURE’S FURY:

The Nature used to express its agony and fury time and again through Floods, Tsunami, Fire etc. as a warning, but we always used to ignore them.

This time it has probably become more furious because of various atrocities committed by the Mankind over a period of time repeatedly as follows.

We have highly polluted the precious water and air, besides spoiling our Boomi Matha (the soil) to the core by dumping plastics, chemicals and what not.

Destroyed trees and forests which are homes for birds and animals besides killing them also. In the process, it is a pity that some of the species have been totally wiped out!

Just because we are blessed with 6 th sense, we thought we are the most supreme ones and the Universe is created only for our comforts.

Instead of being humble and grateful to the nature, we have become utterly selfish and greedy for power and position whether as an individual or nation.

LESSONS FROM CORONA:

Now an invisible virus has proved that it is far mightier than the so called mighty powers who are under utter shock without knowing what to do to save themselves.

It has taught us the importance of hygiene and health besides values of unity and service with compassion.

It has made us to realise that the life is so temporary and possessions have no meaning beyond a point.

People now have understood that they can make their life simple with basic necessities instead of craving for luxuries more and more.

All over the world people have now started adopting our way of greeting by Namaste with folded hands instead of their custom of shaking hands/hugging

People have now understood the values of our age old customs and traditions which they were mocking at earlier

ROLE OF GOVT.

Our Govt. both at the Centre and State are doing a marvellous job in saving our life. The National shut down of 21 days till 14 th April is a right decision taken at a right time by our PM which is applauded by one and all. As per PM’s advice we had an enthusiastic Nation-wide clapping for 5 minutes on 22 nd March to express our gratefulness to the Doctors and others for all their glorious services.

Likewise, we also participated in Lighting of Lamps at our homes amidst darkness for 9 Minutes from 9.00 pm on 5 th April to express our solidarity with the entire Nation in fighting the war against Corona and for invoking God’s blessings. It was also a grand success. In fact lighting of lamp is part of our daily routines in temples and homes as well which carries special significance!

Suggestions for Utilising the time usefully and joyfully:

The Lockdown period is a rare opportunity for togetherness of family members. Let us make the best use of it in the following manner.

  • Ensure better relationship with open communication and avoid conflicts.
  • Develop the habit of reading books besides newspapers and periodicals.
  • All family members can get involved in various domestic works with pleasure thereby reducing the burden of ladies especially in the absence of maids.
  • Watch nice programmes like Ramayana etc. in TV together with family members instead of getting addicted to news about Corona only.
  • Enjoy the various videos in Youtube which is a rare gift for us. The choice of video is yours as per your taste.
  • Recharge your friendship and relationship by phone calls / WhatsApp expressing your love and concern.
  • Cooking is a wonderful art with abundant scope for creativity. New items can be tried. Gents also can start learning.
  • Clean up your possessions. Discard the unwanted papers dresses etc.
  • Ensure your physical and mental health through Exercise, Walking (even inside the house) Yoga, Meditation & Gardening.
  • Spend more time with children by playing Carrom, Chess etc., besides encouraging their talents by appreciating them.
  • Talk to your elderly parents / Grandparents record the conversation for making a biography. Their joy will become multi fold.
  • Spend little more time for Nithyakarmas like Prayers, Poojas, and Parayanam etc., to elevate our souls.
  • Develop sense of humour by enjoying jokes, watching comedy scenes etc.
  • Plan strategies for achieving your goals and solving problems.
  • Above all pursue the marriage alliance matters as usual subject to the mind-set of other parties.

Every problem gives us lot of opportunities also. It is for us to discover and utilise them. Let us not regret over the past or worry about future but take things as it is and proceed with optimism in the journey of life! This will also pass!

Above suggestions may hold good always!

Impact on the Economy:

The corona and the resultant lockdown have affected our economy to the core including Agriculture, Industries and Business as well. Many may be losing their jobs. Self-employed persons in entertainment sector like sports/music have lost their schedules. Share market has nosedived resulting in heavy loss. The plight of daily wage earners and migrant labourers is very pitiable.

The impact is bound to cause lot of frustrations to many. At times leading to suicides also, but let us be clear that the entire setback is purely temporary. Compared to loss of life, it is nothing. Imagine the plight of the people who have been affected already by the virus.

Everything is bound to rebound at the earliest under the dynamic leadership of our able PM. Let us recall the success story of Japan after their worst debacle in World War II as precedence and role model.

Let us always count upon our blessings rather than misfortunes while facing the problems. I recall the old cine song “Olimayamana Yethirkaalam” which always lingers in my mind.

“Life is Hope. Hope is Life”

Stay in. Stay Safe ! Bharath Matha Ki Jai !

With Kind Regards & Best Wishes
